Karen Petrone's primary research interests are cultural history, gender history, propaganda, representations of war, and the history of subjectivity and everyday life, especially in Russia and the Soviet Union. We will apply these methodologies to the texts — tales, films and prints — that we examine, and participants will learn to use them to enhance their understanding and appreciation of classic Russian fairy and folk tales.
